FAQ
Do you offer grooming?
Currently, we do not. In the future, we hope to have a full service fear free and force free Salon with the ability to have private grooms for our dog reactive friends.
Do you have a facility?
Currently we do not, but are hoping to open a home base in Bethesda as we grow. With a facility, we will offer training courses, grooming, and low-capacity enrichment sessions during the day. We also plan to have a community spot for pet owners to socialize with each other and their dogs in the comfort of a secure facility.
Do you board dogs in kennels?
No, we do not. Kennels can be stressful for dogs, regardless of how fancy they may appear in clever marketing tactics, as well as spread diseases easily. Your pets do best in the comfort of their own home. Under special circumstances, we can board your pet but have minimum space to do so.
Do you need my pet’s medical records?
All we need are proof of rabies, distemper and bordetella. We encourage the Leptospirosis vaccine as well, but it is not required. If your pet is not spayed or neutered and is over a year old, please let us know ahead of time so we can actively work against accidents happening during enrichment time. We do encourage the spaying and neutering of your pets.
How long are your Enrichment Visits?
Our Enrichment Visits range from 40 minutes to an hour depending on the needs of your companion. We do not force your pet outside or to interact with us, so if we are pushing the threshold, we cancel the session and let you know.
I want to schedule an enrichment visit for 3pm. What time can I expect my caretaker?
When you schedule a time slot, we ask an hour’s leeway. We do our best to be there at the exact time as requested, but given that we work with animals who have individualized needs, we may have to spend extra time or plan for longer visits later in the day. We need flexibility in our day to ensure the best possible care for all our clients. If we have caretakers running late, we will communicate with each other and you to let you know.
What is included with your In-Home Pet Sitting?
We give as many walks and enrichment activities your companions desire and need and do not nickel and dime you like other pet care services. During the stay, we feed, administer medication, walk and play with your companion. Our Caretakers are encouraged to practice a very healthy work-life balance so during the day your Caretaker may step away to enjoy their social life and other hobbies, and during the week they have other clients to tend to for Enrichment Visits. Jimmy’s Park is not a cleaning service or a child care service, so while our Caretakers are expected to be tidy and clean, they aren’t obligated to clean any messes left for them. Jimmy’s Park Caretakers are also unable to baby sit (human) children, pick up kids from school, or anything else of that sort under Jimmy’s Park, but you’re welcome to ask your Caretaker as a personal favor and pay them directly for their help. We do absolutely tend to your home as needed, such as watering plants, preparing for trash collection day, and so forth.
What is the difference between Anxiety/Reactive and Regular services?
Our Anxiety/Reactive services pair you with a highly trained Caretaker to provide care for your companions. If your companion is highly reactive toward people or other animals, this is the perfect choice for you. This also applies to companions who need constant supervision, or special case supervision. During our Meet and Greet, we determine if your companion is a good fit for the Anxiety/Reactive services. Eventually, once we work with your companion for a while, we can drop the Extra Care services to Regular Services but not all companions will be eligible for that reduction in service price.
Do you work with dogs with bite histories?
Yes, but we require dogs with bite histories to be muzzled with an appropriate sized muzzle that doesn’t prevent your dog from breathing normally. We have limited availability with dogs with bite histories, and we of course will be transparent if we feel we cannot take on the job for more severe cases after exhausting our options.
What are your hours of operation?
Typically Monday-Friday 9am-5pm is when we do our enrichment visits, email responses. We rarely will do dog walks or enrichment visits on weekends as we promote a healthy work-life balance. Jimmy’s Park hires and embraces our employees with disabilities, both physical and mental, and therefore we operate on “Crip Time” so flexibility, understanding and patience is needed from our clients in order for us to provide our services.
